The short answer: No, Johnson’s Baby is not cruelty free.
The long answer: Owned by American consumer goods and pharmaceutical company Johnson & Johnson, Johnson’s Baby is a brand that focuses on baby skin care. Officially launched in 1894, its products currently include baby-friendly items such as powder, shampoo, body lotion, massage oil, shower gel, and baby wipes.
When asked whether its products are tested on animals, the Johnson’s Baby website states, “We do NOT conduct animal testing on any of our cosmetic products except in the rare situation where governments or laws require it. We’ll never compromise on the quality or safety of the products we provide for you.” Since Johnson’s Baby is sold in China, this means their imported products must undergo obligatory tests on animals to ensure it is safe for human use.
PETA indicates that Johnson’s Baby belongs to a company that “DOES test on animals.” Johnson’s Baby sister brands include AVEENO, Clean & Clear, and Neutrogena, which are also available in China. With all these facts presented, we cannot consider Johnson’s Baby as 100% cruelty free.
