The short answer: It is not recommended.
The long answer: Sausages are meat products made from ground meat such as pork, beef, or poultry. To intensify the meat’s flavour, the sausages usually contain salt, garlic, onion, spices, flavourings, grains, and/or breadcrumbs. Most of these ingredients are known to be toxic for dogs, hence it is not recommended that you give your dog sausages.
What to do if your dog accidentally eats a sausage: Check the package to find out what was exactly in the juicy treat. Observe your dog for any changes, such as lack of energy, drooling, nausea, weakness, lack of coordination, vomiting, pale gums, increased heart rate, labored breathing, discolored urine, anemia, and abdominal pain. (These are symptoms of garlic and onion poisoning.) Diarrhea and dehydration can also be experienced by your pet, so give him plenty of water. Consult with your veterinarian regarding the best course of action to take.
In summary: Similar to hotdogs, rich-tasting sausages contain high amounts of fat, sodium, and other spices that will not benefit your pooch. Refrain from letting your dog try this grilled or fried treat because it will cause his body more harm than good. Instead of feeding him sausage, you’re better off giving him healthy dog treats, cooked vegetables, and fresh fruits.
