The short answer: No.
The long answer: Pork bones are usually used to create flavourful broths. When you are done using bones as stock or have simply removed them from the portion you’re about to cook, it is tempting to give these to your dog. However, similar to chicken bones and rib bones, pork bones should not be consumed by your canine. When eaten, the pork bones can splinter and crack, which causes a variety of problems. It can damage his teeth, cause choking, block his airway passage, or create cuts to his mouth, esophagus, stomach, and intestines.
Raw bones run the risk of carrying bacterial contamination, while cooked bones may have been slathered in ingredients harmful for him. The latter may cause pancreatitis and other health complications.
What to do if your dog accidentally eats pork bones: Observe your dog for any changes in the next few hours. Bring him to the vet or emergency clinic if he starts to cough, gag, drool, exhibit distress, or retch. These can be signs of an airway obstruction. If he vomits, gets the runs, experiences lethargy, becomes constipated, and/or loses appetite, take him to the doctor as well.
In summary: Whether raw or cooked, pork bones are not recommended for your pooch because of the possible complications that might stem from eating them. He can occasionally enjoy eating pork meat instead, but only lean portions that are thoroughly cooked and not seasoned with toxic ingredients.
