Is Arm & Hammer Cruelty Free?

The short answer: No, Arm & Hammer is not cruelty free.

The long answer: Introduced in the US market in 1846, Arm & Hammer is an American brand that sells baking soda-based products. It was founded by Church & Dwight, brothers-in-law and manufacturers who specialised in household products. In the 1970s, the brand expanded its range to sell underarm deodorant, laundry detergent, toothpaste, and cat litter—all containing their popular baking soda.

The Arm & Hammer website does not reveal whether it tests on animals. However, it’s important to note that PETA states the brand is not cruelty free. This means that Arm & Hammer could either be testing their raw ingredients/finished products on animals, commissioning a third party to test their ingredients/finished products on animals, or selling their products in countries (i.e. China) that conduct mandatory tests on animals.
